Objective of this Assessment is to analyse the Service Provider Portfolio of Services for the purpose of benchmarking of the services in scope against defined parameters within the Industry.
Typical Parameters for benchmarking could be :
- Type of Services/Offerings
- Prices/Charging
- Service Levels
- Service Management Processes analysis in a particular sector. Best in class Benchmark by Process or Service
- Best in Class Benchmark by strategy
Sourcing benchmarking is the process of comparing the actual cost of a specific IT service to:
- A representative group other companies / competitors (“peer group”)
- Based on a norm that is considered to be an industry standard or best practice (e.g. # of service desk calls per employee)
At the end of the exercise following will be the deliverables,
- Provides insight in the customer’s current position relative to the peer group or norm
- Identifies the possibilities for further improvements or cost reductions
- Supports the creation of a high level quantitative business case for sourcing
- Supports the development of plans on how to implement identified improvements or adopt the best practices
